Unlike lasers, IPL uses a broad-spectrum of light that penetrates several layers deep in the skin. It warms the skin using heat to stimulate production of new collagen and connective tissue through the body’s natural healing process. Before treatment, we apply a cool gel to the treatment areas to enhance comfort and allow the hand-piece to glide smoothly over the skin. These convenient treatments take about 20 minutes to perform and you can resume your normal activities immediately afterwards.
AquaGold is a gold-plated hair-fine needle system used to painlessly deliver customizable solutions into the skin at the ideal 600 micron depth. Aquagold treatments can reduce the appearance of pores by delivering botox into the skin, smooth skin with dermal hyaluronic acid gel like Juvederm or Restylane, and give an overall airbrushed appearance to the skin.
AquaGold is a painless procedure with minimal potential short-term redness. We recommend avoiding makeup until the day following treatment. AquaGold treatments may be done individually, such as before an important event, or in a series.
Sclerotherapy is a minimally invasive procedure performed by one of our experienced providers to treat uncomplicated spider veins and reticular veins. Spider veins are very small, fine red or blue veins that are close to the surface of the skin. They do not bulge like varicose veins, and are much finer. Sclerotherapy involves the injection of a solution into the affected veins with a tiny needle.
At PPS we use Asclera® solution for sclerotherapy. Asclera is a sclerosing agent that is injected into the unwanted vein. It works by damaging the cells lining the vein, eventually causing the vein to clot and disappear.
It can take weeks to see the results of sclerotherapy, and it is common to need multiple sessions. If repeat sessions are necessary they are usually separated by at least 2 weeks. Following treatment, compression stockings or support hose should be worn continuously for 2-3 days and for 2-3 weeks during the day time; for this reason, we typically recommend having sclerotherapy done in the fall/winter season. At PPS we carry compression stockings so that you do not have to go elsewhere to purchase them.
Do you find yourself ever embarrassed by razor burn or painful ingrown hairs? If you answered yes, most likely you are using a method to remove the hair already. Waxing, shaving and tweezing can be very time consuming and results are short lived. Unlike other, traditional methods of hair removal, laser hair removal is a hair reduction method, yielding far better, longer-lasting results.
The EVO laser is state of the art, virtually painless, and can treat all skin tones safely. A typical package consists of six treatments spaced four to ten weeks apart; the spacing between treatments depends on the area being treated. The laser uses a concentrated beam of energy to target the hair follicle below the surface of the skin. The energy transfers into heat, which damages the follicle. The laser targets hair in the anagen phase (active growth phase). As our hairs are all in different phases of growth at any given time, six treatments are recommended for optimum results. You can shave as many times as need be throughout the duration of treatment, but other methods of hair removal (waxing, tweezing) are not allowed as would diminish the efficacy of the treatment. Laser hair removal is safe, FDA cleared, affordable, and life changing.
For the best facial available, HydraFacial is key.
HydraFacial is a gentle, non-invasive skin care treatment that provides a deep cleanse, dual exfoliation, gentle peel, while also replenishing essential nutrients that help revitalize skin’s health.
This refreshing and restorative treatment may be customized to treat acne, hyperpigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles, volume loss and many other skin concerns. Hydrafacial is more effective than traditional facials, offering long-lasting effects and is safe and effective for anyone or any type of skin. Benefits of Hydrafacial include improved skin clarity, an increase in skin volume, softer, smoother, and more resilient skin, brighter skin tone, and reduced appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. peach fuzz) and dead skin from the face. Dermaplaning will leave the skin smoother, allows makeup to look smoother, and allows skincare to penetrate better. It is a quick, painless treatment usually lasting 15 minutes or less, and it is typically performed as an add-on service before a peel or a hydrafacial.
A healthy body produces sweat to cool itself during exercise, heat or anxiety. Especially in a hot and humid locale like North Carolina, profuse sweating isn’t uncommon. But some people suffer from a medical condition called hyperhidrosis, which causes them to sweat excessively even when they’re calm and cool. This condition, especially when it causes excessive armpit sweating, can create discomfort and embarrassment. At Providence Plastic Surgery, we have multiple options to control excessive sweating in patients who suffer from axillary (armpit) hyperhidrosis.
Botox or Dysport can be injected into the underarms to significantly decrease sweating temporarily. It is a quick easy procedure, with results in 1-2 weeks lasting 3-4 months.
Virtue takes microneedling and makes it better through the addition of radiofrequency energy. When Virtue RF’s 36 gold-tipped microneedles puncture the skin and are at full depth, they emit a burst of radiofrequency energy directly into the dermis. This is done with much better precision thanks to Virtue’s exclusive robotic delivery system, which eliminates tearing and skin trauma that can be a part of other microneedling treatments. When Virtue’s RF energy enters the dermis, it converts to heat. When the body senses heat in the dermis layer, it assumes there has been a wound. It responds by remodeling the existing collagen in the area and then initiating new production of collagen and elastin to heal the perceived wound, although there isn’t actually any wound. This increase in collagen smooths, firms, and improves skin texture and tone. Because Virtue RF bypasses the epidermis and delivers the RF energy directly into the dermis, this means we can deliver higher levels of RF energy without worrying about damaging the outer skin. This means better rejuvenation through collagen renewal.
Microneedling uses the body’s wound-healing mechanisms to improve your skin. For our microneedling, we use the SkinPen. The SkinPen uses 14 stainless steel medical-grade needles to create hundreds of microscopic channels down through the epidermis. We can vary the penetration depth of the SkinPen needles, depending on the area being treated. For instance, we set a shallower penetration depth for areas with thinner skin, such as the forehead, and deeper penetration for areas with thicker skin, such as the cheeks. These micro-injuries trigger a wound-healing response in the body, where healthy new skin cells and collagen are produced and sent to “heal” the perceived wounds. This happens despite the fact that the microscopic punctures heal fully in just a couple of hours. SkinPen was the first FDA-cleared microneedling device and has consistently set the industry standard.
