Peeling agents resurface the skin by inducing a controlled wound and therefore removing superficial layers of the skin. A chemical peel promotes the growth of new healthy skin and improves skin problems like hyperpigmentation, wrinkles and fine lines
A treatment is only 30 minutes in office. Skin is prepped with a medical degreaser to remove any oils left on the skin. The chemical agent is then applied and left on for 3-5 minutes. Some patients feel a mild stinging that is temporary and subsides in a few minutes. Peels will self neutralize and should remain on the skin for the rest of the day.
A few days after your in office treatment you will notice your skin feeling tight and maybe a little red. Visible peeling will be light and fluffy. Peeling skin will follow about 3-5 days after the initial treatment. Follow the instructions given during treatment along with any accompanying skincare products.
Strenuous exercise and heavy sweating should be avoided during peeling process. Exposure to a lot of heat and sun exposure should also be avoided. Peeling skin should be allowed to slough off, do not pick or peeling flaking skin. Don’t use prescription topicals during your peel process.
One week before don’t wax, do laser treatments or use hair removal creams. Also stop using your Retin-A, retinol, AHA or BHA products 5-7 days prior.
