SkinPen and Virtue are both microneedling technologies designed to lessen fine lines, wrinkles, and scars while improving skin texture and tone, all with minimal downtime. How Do SkinPen & Virtue Work?
Microneedling creates controlled micro-injuries in the skin using fine needles. The SkinPen device inserts 14 needles at once, and Virtue uses 36. Virtue devices have a larger depth range, which allows them to target deeper skin layers for more pronounced wrinkles or scars.
As these needles pierce the skin, blood flow increases and immune cells activate to clean the area, getting it ready for repair. As these micro-injuries heal, they encourage the body’s natural healing abilities to rebuild the skin with new collagen, the building block of our skin.
Virtue microneedling also uses radiofrequency energy as it creates micro-injuries. This technology delivers heat below the skin’s surface through the needle tips, which tightens skin by boosting collagen production even more.

Before treatment starts, we will clean your skin and apply a topical numbing cream, so you stay comfortable throughout the procedure. Once your skin has been prepared, Dr. Gear gently passes the microneedling device over the treatment area.
You may feel slight pressure, mild buzzing, and warmth, but you should feel little or no discomfort. Treatments typically take about 30 minutes, but this timeframe can vary depending on the size of the treatment area.
